We are a small band of like minded individuals who have formed a club, cultivated and envisaged during our normal Friday night 'early doors' sessions at the Taps drinking establishment. The core element of the 'club' is a small group of friends, some are locals and others are imports, introduced through various wifey associations and friendships. The bonding has borne out of a number of escapades both locally and internationally, during group and boys trips abroad. The international events have taken place in Northern France, Northern Ireland, Switzerland , Southern Spain, Eastern Italian coast and wherever NEXT ?.
Several members are seasoned bikers, returned scooter riders, on both motorbikes and scooters. There is an assortment of scoots, Lambrettas: 1967 SX150, 1969 GP200, 1977 GP200, sx200, LI 150, Vespa's : 2002 125 , 2005 125L GT and 2008 125 GTS. New LSC membership rule from 2010 Italian scoots only (Vespa or Lambreattas permitted). The list grows on a daily basis, as more beg to join the adventure and ride outs, with the subsequent banter that follows .
Friday night is club night at the Taps, membership is £10.00 (in full) to the kitty meister and the evening commences. Other non LSC members often join in the kitty for the social interaction, just to bask in glory of the LSC members regaling stories from past events. Also occasional weekday evening ride out and weekends depending on the weather and availability of numbers. Snoggy occasionally meets us in his Yellow machine if a) we remember to tell him b) he can be arsed.
SAD ANNOUNCEMENT: our spiritual leader Opey Senior died on the 13th November 2007 to the big C, in his sleep. The funeral was a huge affair the church overflowed, shows the respect /friendship he had. "it was all a rum do" !!!
Ian the manager of The Taps has placed a photo of Mark in the Taps in the LSC corner of the bar in tribute. Nice gesture Ian. We sponsored a trophy for the Lambretta summer event, known as the Lytham Scooter Club ( Mark Openshaw) trophy.
